                 The Effects of Toeong Sungchol҆s Sermons
                 based on the Thoughts of Middle Path on

                                  Korea҆s Buddhism

                 Master Sungchol gave his sermons based on Buddhist textual
               tradition for approximately 100 days after his appointment

               as Bangjang(方丈) of Haeinchongrim(海印叢林) in 1967. Since his
               sermon continued for around 100 days, it was called "Sermon

               of One Hundred Days," in which he encompassed all Buddhist
               teachings based on Middle Path. The core content of this

               sermon is centered around the concept of Middle Path.
                 In the 1960s when he spread his idea of Middle Path,

               there was a series of confrontation and conflict in Korean
               secular as well as religious society. In the society, people

               were confronting each other over issues on progressive or
               conservative, on pro-North Korea and anti-North Korea,

               and on pro-Japanese or anti-Japanese, and Bhikkhu and The
